I fell in love with photography at a small portrait studio in Myanmar (formerly Burma) where my father send me to work my first summer job in 1984. That love continued when moved to the United States in 1989 and I worked for a photographer, Dr. John Atkinson from Laguna beach, who specialized in natural landscapes.
Although my educational background (I studied film and photography in college) and interest were in photography, I pursued a career in mechanical design drafting for 12 years. The work was good, but it was not what I really wanted to do. In 2006, I opened my own studio and have dedicated myself to being a full-time photographer (I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America) since then.Note to prospective wedding clients: For three years, I served in the U.S Army and wanted to be a war correspondent/photojournalist like Steve McCurry. My contract ended during peace time and (luckily as it turned out) I never saw the war.
I took these pictures on seven different trips to Burma. These trips are not just a way to feed my love of traveling. They are also a way to give back to the people of my homeland. I don’t have a lot of cash to change the lives of these people, but as a photographer I can make them happy for a day and give them memories that they can enjoy long after I leave the country. https://georgeswar.com/projects/
